Tuesday, August 22
- The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced on Tuesday that the Country Club of Buffalo (N.Y.) will be the host site for the 2027 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur and the 2032 U.S. Senior Amateur Championships. The club has previously hosted
four USGA championships, including the 1912 U.S. Open.
Monday, August 21
- The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced that Plainfield Country Club, in Edison, N.J., will be the host site for three USGA championships: the 2025 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, the 2031 U.S. Senior Women’s Open
and the 2038 U.S. Senior Open. They will be the third, fourth and fifth USGA championships held at the club.
- The CGSA and BCGSA Board of Directors have announced Jennifer Rozek as the organization’s new CGSA Communications Manager and BCGSA Operations Manager. Rozek joins the organization from from Shuswap Lake Golf Course where she
has been the Superintendent since 2009. She has also served the BCGSA membership both as a member of the Interior Chapter Board, serving as President from 2020 to 2022 as well as provincially as Interior Representative on the BCGSA Board.

- Ron Kirby, ASGCA Fellow, died Aug. 17, 2023, in Copenhagen, Denmark, at age 90. Kirby’s course portfolio as a golf course architect is extensive, including London Golf Club International Course, London; Dolphin Head Golf Course,
Hilton Head, South Carolina; Sun City Golf Course, Bophutatswana, South Africa; Old Head Golf Links, Kinsale, Republic of Ireland; and La Moraleja Golf Club, Madrid, Spain. Read the full remembrance on the ASGCA web site.
- Syngenta announced that its latest insect control innovation, Acelepryn Xtra insecticide, is now available
for use on lawns, athletic fields and golf courses. Acelepryn Xtra has been engineered with two modes of action and the active ingredients chlorantraniliprole and thiamethoxam to provide broader-spectrum, season-long control of grubs, billbugs
and caterpillars, as well as enhanced control of chinch bugs and added control of ants.

- Genesis Turfgrass recently joined United Turf Alliance as its newest owner. Based in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania, Genesis Turfgrass serves customers in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, West Virginia, and New
Jersey. The new partnership between Genesis Turfgrass and UTA is a logical move for both organizations as they align to better serve turfgrass professionals.

- FMC Corporation has appointed Jeff Rice as Market Specialist for the Mid-Atlantic territory for sales of its GSS, Professional Solutions division products. Rice has over 20 years of experience in the turf and golf business, serving
the past eight as General Manager and Director of Grounds at Oak Creek Golf Club. Rice’s career includes managing a variety of both cool and warm season turf in the Washington DC metro area.
- Spanish Trail Country Club has announced a partnership with PTI Golf to oversee the course maintenance operation at the Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed 27-hole championship layout. PTI will conduct all maintenance duties at the highly
decorated and beautiful private club located about four miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.

- Audubon International reports that it recently added nearly twenty new members to its Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf Certification and Green Lodging Certification tracks, continuing a strong growth trend that shows no signs
of slowing in the second half of 2023 and beyond. From April 28 to July 28, eleven golf clubs from every corner of the United States, as well as one club in Bogota, Colombia, enrolled in the ACSP for Golf Certification program. In the U.S., there
are six new members from California and one each from Alabama, Colorado, Hawaii, Missouri and South Carolina. Visit the Audubon International homepage to learn

- Ascernity fungicide from Syngenta is now available for golf course superintendents to use in California again. Ascernity combines SOLATENOL technology ― an advanced SDHI for golf course turf ― and difenoconazole,
